I have an anti tank MKV mine case marked 1943, and is 9" x 9" x 28". Does anyone know how rare these are and what the value might be?
Mine has been painted silver on the outside, military green on the inside and had a hasp installed to lock it, as it has been used as a toolbox by a WW2 vet.

I recently saw a pallet load of them in an antique mall in Alabama. asking price was $40. Most were dated 1944. there were probably about 50 in the pile. I suspect a batch of them have just hit the market.

Thanks for the info

Thx for the info - I have never seen one of these before, but my dad was a WW2 Air Force vet and he never threw anything out, and brought it home after the war and made a tool box.

Sorry - the mines are all gone!

If the paint was original and the markings all there, then it might be worth something. But the price on a painted over and modified box is about what you would pay for a metal box with a hasp. I usually see these at farm auctions for around $5 or $10.
