Markings on my 1917 No 1 mrk 3* Enfeild

Lots of markings. Mixture of the original martial markings and post service civialian proofing. On which ones specifically did you want info?
Rifle has an 1918 Enfield made barrel.
The forearm is Enfield made post 1924, it sat in stores and went through a 1% of inventory inspection.
It has an London Small Arms Co. made trigger guard.
BSA made nosecap.
Rifle is ex-Canadian service.
Butt stock is British but I don't recognise the sub-contractor's markings..
It was sold off into civilian hands through the Birmingham gun trade when it was nitro proofed post 1955. I cant read the date code for the proofing, its just a blurr.

You told me a whole bunch already. I had been looking on the net for info but it is hard to follow. Purchased this from a Fellow CGN and it arrived today. Wanted to do some history research and it seems You know a lot. I appreciate the info. My grandpa carried one in WW1 always wanted one to take out to the range. Thanks again.
Well if Grandpa was a Canadian soldier in WWI, it is possible that he carried this very rifle. If not this one, then another just like it.
I can only see British or Canadian Govt property marks. The fact that it wears British civilian proofs suggests to me that it retired and made its exit from military service in the UK. Possibly stayed behind after the war and has been held in British stores until it was sold off as surplus. It is very likely that it saw service in both world wars.

I wish they could talk, not sure if I would want to know the full details they know but where they had been be an excellent start ... Thanks again. Do you recommend a certain resource for finding or seeing markings either book or the Web? All serial numbers match except for the bolt and bayonett Even the nose cap has matching number .

Look for the book "British Lee Enfield Rifles" Volume 1 by Charles R. Stratton. It's an excellent reference book and it's available on Amazon I believe.
