I am hoping some of you aficionados can help me with this.

I was recently gifted a Enfield 1914 BSA Co. Sht LE III but it has some unusual characteristics compared to other Sht LE that I have seen, hence my post.

1. the barrel seems longer than standard 31" total
2. it has markings of (crown) with S9 and E underneath
3. it has markings of (crown) with 2M and E underneath.

Also it has markings of crown / GR / W / P
It also has markings of a crown / 51 / E / '27

Can anyone point me in the right direction for more information on this, work-of-art.

I am a novice more-or-lesshttps://imgur.com/a/iwz1i4B

A Short Lee Enfield barrel is 25 1/4". To get the 31" total, from which point to which point are you measuring?
Inspectors' marks don't tell you much.
'27 is the barrel date. The rifle was rebarreled.

This might help a little...
