My grandfather just acquired a marlin 1893 chambered in 38-55. The gun's barrel is half round and half octagonal. it also has a short magazine that only eztends about 2-3 inches past the foregrip. He bought the gun because he has a friend that has been looking for one and will buy it off of him. I have not been able to find much information on whether these characteristics of the gun are common or uncommon. Is it worth more than a full octagonal barrel gun?
