Marlin 1893

Hey fellas, my buddy at work has a Marlin 1893 with a octagon barrel, it's chamber in 32spl serial number is 304###, and holds 10 rounds. Any ideas on when it was made and what's it's worth?

It was made around 1904, not sure as to value.

I saw what was either a model 1893 with a round carbine length barrel that someone had put a scope on at the Waverley Gunshow, well it was either that or a model 1936 I guess, it struck me as sort of old-fashioned/gothic looking, all in all kind of cool. I guess only the 336's had the round bolt.
