Friend of me whant to trade is marlin for my savage 111 whit leupold scope
Im just need your opinion
Does this rifle can kill humanly black bear under 50m and deer under 80m whit hard cast bullet handload ?
My donut drum are at perfect (bow)20m for deer my stand is at 50m of 2 run away and where i pile corn and apple
I was thinking for 240gn rnfp hard cast bullet and good amount of h110 ?

Absolutely it will, I'd take a 44 marlin provided it was in good working order over a savage anyday. Within its limits its a great deer and bear cartridge. My experience with 249 gr hard cast rnfp under w296(h110) is phenomenal penetration, .430 in, .430 out. But alas, this is Cgn and you will most likely be told it is inadequate and will bounce off merely annoying the creature :p. What model of leupold is it, that would sway my decision on a trade.

Vx1 3-9x40 nib
Did a 240 rnfp gc is a great hunting round is from jethunter here on cgn the lead is enough strong ?

For bears you could use Speer 270 grain JSP bullets and 17 grains of Alliant 2400. (Lyman 48th Reloading Handbook)

I used this in my Marlin 1894 carbine at 100 yards with excellent accuracy.

I prefer 2400. I think that it is more versatile.

My Lyman reloading manual also recommends about 21 grains of H110 with magnum primers for a 265 JSP.

or

23 grains of H110 for a 240 grain RNFP cast of #2 Alloy, with a magnum primer. (#429667 mold) (1.645" OAL)

240gr hard cast/berrys go, over 24gr h110/win296 or 2400 out of a 1894 at under 100 yards, I would think is good for almost anything south of 60° we're likely to see. Has been a great combo for me, and with a peep sight a prefect, easy carry, no snags, quick aiming bush gun.
Or a 300gr frontier rnfp under 20gr win296 if you're having any doubts about penetration.

That load won't even make it out of the barrel, let alone "bounce off..."

265 gr pill squeezed into a full case of h110/win296 and a 20" barrel should get you around 2000fps at the muzzle and a heck of a wallup downrange. Plus some cowboy loads with cast makes dispatching small game quiet, easy and clean. I carry mine anywhere it's legal for deer and black bear. IMHO there's no sweeter set up for the deer/black bear woods. I'd check to see what type of rifling the marlin has, some have the micro groove rifling that, if I'm not mistaken, doesn't do as well with cast bullets.

Skokie, not to rain on your parade (no offense), but you have to drop to a 200-210 grain bullet weight to get near 2000fps with a 44mag.

But H110/296 will be a great combo for the 265 grain bullet! I have shot a few bears and deer with the 44mag, and it takes care of buisness dependably every time. I dont usually shoot much past 125 yards though, and prefer it inside 100 yards.

You are absolutely right, I was thinking of my Barnes load. The 265 gr load runs about 1800 fps in my 24 inch barrel.
