I wish I pulled the trigger on an 1894 Cowboy in .44 mag when they were in production. I assume they're either out of production, or made by the inferior new Marlin employees?

That octagonal barrel and aesthetics make me really want one of these things.

I don't know that they are rare in numbers but for me they are such a fun gun to shoot & are good for rabbit to deer sized game. Then they are so perty, it is hard to part with!
As far as new ones, I understand that for now production is halted & hopefully will start up again when they can figure it out....

I do hope you can find one, they are fine guns indeed!

There's an article by Brian Pearce in this month's Rifle Sporting Rifle Journal about Marlin's recent major upgrades to the NY factory - heavy on CNC tooling in an attempt to bring them back to where they were. He reviews a fancy model 336 and a model 1894 hot off the presses this year. Model 1895s will follow next as well as more calibres/configurations to all models next year. Time will tell, but it might not be too long before you can buy a new 1894 Cowboy or similar that a guy could be proud about. Here's hoping.

I grabbed that edition of Rifle on the way back from Vernon a few weeks back. With any luck, Marlin will get things goin' again & bring back decent quality in their products. Some nifty chamberings like 25-20 and 32.20 would sure be welcome in the Cowboy 1894!:)

I would also like to see them make another 1894 in the .32 H&R Mag chambering that loads through a loading gate, unlike the tube one they made back 8 or 9 yrs ago. (These are rare)
The short button mag tube would be nice as well! Oh well, I can dream can't I?

I've got one that's about 6 years old in .357. Perfect beaver blaster and with cheap bulk bullets, stupidly fun to shoot gongs with. It's a great rifle and makes me want to go give a cowboy match a try. Too bad they turned out some garbage rifles to stain their name with.

I haven't seen a Marlin 1894 for sale in ANY store in the past 2yrs. I don't even know if Marlin is still making 'em and if they are, well, that's news to me. I've been looking for a 45LC or 357Mag for some time. I missed out on a couple EE deals that got snatched up UBER quick. I might just got the Chiappa, Uberti or Taylor & Co route.
