When cocking my 1895 GBL I notice upon opening the breech bolt pushes back the hammer with the claws cocking it on the side and when it continues back then the bottom of the breech bolt rides on top of the hammer rising slightly and skipping over it. On closing the bottom of the breech bolt depresses the hammer slightly, and skips over the hammer again. This rubbing is wearing the blueing off the top of the hammer.

Any solutions or comments? Thanks.

It's working as designed, that extra little "bump" to the hammer is there to ensure a little hammer over roll/travel to ensure a solid hammer/sear engagement is achieved. It can be minimized a bit but not a good idea to eliminate it all together.

It's working as designed to ensure that the hammer engages the sear properly.

I gave that bulge on the bolt a good polish along with the top of the hammer and its much smoother now. But I agree with the others in saying I wouldn't remove it all together. It's meant to be there.
