I just got my new Marlin 1895M and went out to sight it in today. What a wonderful new purchase, but I ran into one problem. everytime I tried to eject a spent cartridge, it would not kick itself out. It seemed like the ejector pin was catching the casing too soon, and it would just pop the cartridge forward into the action. I shot 10 shots and this happened everytime, didn't matter how fast or slow I cycled the lever. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how did you fix it?

I just looked on my 1895 to try to see what might be going on. If the ejector and spring are in the correct position, then I think it might be the extractor not holding the rim of the cartridge properly. Maybe take the bolt out and see how a cartridge fits behind the extractor. Put a empty cartridge behind the extractor, it should hold the empty cartridge even when shaking it.

I'm assuming this is a 450 marlin? Could be something simple like a 45-70, or 444 extractor got put in your rifle?

Thanks for the info guys, i will take it apart tomorrow and have a look. It may besomething just as simple as filing down that lead end of the ejector a bit so it clears the case.

Is it a new gun? If it is ,take it back before you start filing, unless you know what and why you are doing. Because after you file ,it is your problem ,if the filing didn't work.

Yeah its a new gun, but i live in Alberta and i bought it from SIR in Winnipeg. Would probably cost me more for shipping than to just replace the part. There is a gunsmith in central alberta i may take it to tomorrow and get his opinion, if it might be major trouble i will send it back.
