Marlin 1895 GS Stainless lever for $629.99 at a retailer- good?

These guide guns seem to be appreciating in value then depreciating again

In 2007-2008 cabelas (sir) had the 1895GS for $695.99 and the XLR for $756.99

Then in the Fall of 2008 they sold the 1985GS for $719.99 and the XLR for $779.99...

I find sometimes there can be a huge difference in pricing between Cabelas and Wholesale sports right now the 1985GS is $789 at wholesale and $719 at Cabela's..

My buddy has received his, except they sent him the blued metal guide gun. They told him that Marlin does not make the stainless model anymore, and are giving him an instore credit.

Your buddy obviously requested the different rifle. People have been offered alternative deals to placate particularly impatient and outspoken customers, however most who placed orders are waiting for the gun that has been ordered, and rightly so. BTW, that's misinformation about Marlin not producing them anymore.

Got a call yesterday from Cabelas saying that my order has been canceled and that the 1895GS has been discontinued. I called Marlin today and they assured me that it has not been discontinued. Anyone else get a call from Cabelas?

I got an email yesterday asking me to call in to update my credit card info as they have to update the in their system after a period of time. They also wanted me to confirm I still wanted it.

I called in, gave the card number and confirmed I still wanted it (the guy I spoke to didn't know about the email I received). Anyway he checked the system and said they have 44 on order and there are 35 people waiting...

You didn't get an email asking for your card number?

Should be soon!!

I got tired of hearing "it's on back order" from Cabelas so I called Marlin today. The Lady I spoke to didn't provide much information other than to say they have been shipping to Canada and Cabelas USA warehouse. I was asking about the Guide Gun and assumed she was replying about the Guide Gun, but now I have my doubts. She said she couldn't find Cabelas Canada in the system so we decided that I would call back to Cabelas.

I called Cabelas and spoke to Adam, he wasn't sure if they get there produce directly from Marlin but said he would check. I couple of minutes later he said they did get their shipments directly from Cabelas. So I called Marlin back...

This time I spoke to JP (at Cabelas). He said he couldn't help me because I was in Canada (Don't think he was right...) but he was good enough to give me the number of the Canada contact. I think it was called the Graval Agency (spelling is not correct). I called and spoke to a lady who informed me that they have nothing to do with Cabelas orders (so JP was wrong). Cabelas gets they produce directly from Marlin.

She was kind enough to look up the part number and check the status... Go figure, the one person that has nothing to do with the order was the most help!

Here's the good part!

Apparently they are doing a production run of 163 Guide Guns starting on Monday July 19th. The run will take about 8 weeks to complete. She said probably less time than 8 weeks but they say 8 weeks so people don't keep calling back.

Since ours have been on order since February she is confident we will get them. Apparently they wait until they have enough orders before they do a production run.

So... we might see them before the fall bear hunt!!

On another note, I asked the lady at Marlin about shutting down the plant. She said that was just a internet rumor. They are moving the plant but it will remain open (at the new location)

Called yesterday and was told that they are in and mine was being procesed and should be ready to ship early next week. They were having a problem as they had writen down my PAL # wrong. The lady that I was talking to said that 11 of the 20 (can't remember if it was 20 but some where around there) that came in were already sold. So these must be the back order ones.

I just bought mine today from Mississauga Le Baron's -- the last one. I didn't know there was a wait? Markham Le Baron's might have a few left. I paid $788.63 (no tax). Can't wait to pop some 45-70's down the range tomorrow!!!!

Well, what do you know, mine arrived this morning. Ran out at lunch and picked it up at the post office.

The cycling is pretty tight but I can work on that. Hopefully it feeds alright. They sure are short.

I have a few factory loads to throw down range after work and then load development starts after dinner.

mines here too!!!!!
Tight action, but ill get in there with some polish later. Woodfit not so sweet at the buttstock/reciever join. Ive got some brass, 200 350gr cast lead FP's and 2 cans of trailboss to break it in with. + some lever revolution..
