Marlin 1895ss 45-70 Value help

Have a chance to pick up an 1895ss in 45-70. Was manufactured in 1989.
No pics yet, but if it is in good shape, what's a decent price to pay?
Does the microgroove rifling make a big difference to the value?
Have heard people say they don't shoot cast, while others say they use cast no problem.
Just finding out more about the gun, awaiting an email to get some answers.

Just got the pictures. Certainly well used in my opinion. Lots of decay on the stock, blueing loss.

$500 to $600 range is fair. Some people are trying to push the JM brand however I bought mine in minty shape three years ago with a scope for $500. Super nice rifle too!
 
One thing about cosmetically challenged shooters is one isn't afraid to use them.
Was out yesterday with the new to me Winchester 69A and my old 336R.C. in 35rem.
They were sitting honourably on a double sling shot styled holder double whammy.
Dust, rain, sleet, mud, branches, pine needles and such.
Nawt a worry.
Funny, when I got back to the FSR, the vehicles going the other way waved.
Must of been quite a sight.
Get home and clean them up......presto.....ready for action.

And this 45-70........ $500-$600 or so.
I have Marlins with the Ballard and Micro-groove rifling and they both place bullets
on targets very well.
Never tried cast bullets..............yet.

I need to move farther from town, and buy a quad.
 
The asking is $550+tax and shipping. I think I'm going to let someone else have this one and look for something in a bit better shape.

$500 to $600 way too much! $350 to $450 depending on condition.

My Micro-Groove was not quite as accurate as the Ballards that followed, but accurate enough. Never tried casts in it though. Heavy casts shot MOA in the Ballards, but that depends a lot on who makes 'em.
