hey, i have a Marlin Model 70HC .22LR, i'm having issues with it jamming quite frequently, i've tried different types of .22's, but i'm thinking it just needs a GOOD tear down and cleaning (i've never done it since i've owned it, and don't really know when the last time it has be done) I've searched around the web, and so far haven't found any good instructions on tear down (i've heard they can be tricky without instructions), anyone have any ideas or tricks they know of, or is something else causing my jamming problems?? (it will jam occasoinaly with slow and rapid fire), any help would be appreciated !! thanks

Unscrew the two screws which secure the barrelled action to the stock. You might have to wiggle a bit to get the magazine catch clear of the stock. There is a crosspin (screws in older models) that holds the rear of the trigger assembly to the receiver. Push it out, and pivot the trigger assembly away from the receiver. You can probably clean without further disassembly. Better not to remove the "c" clips and separate the trigger housing sideplates. If you decide to remove the bolt, you will have to disengage the rear of the recoil spring guide from the receiver, and remove the guide and the spring. Reassembly can be fun, the spring is quite long, and the space in which it must be reassembled is short. With the trigger group separated, the innards of the receiver can be flushed and scrubbed, along with the trigger group.
.22 ammunition is quite dirty, and semi auto .22s foul up. This can lead to functionning problems.
If the problem persists, try a new magazine.
