i am in the process of buying a .30-30, for my girlfreind deer hunting at close range from 30 yds to 150 yds maximum.

marlin stainless(336ss) or henry brass ?

they both will have 20 inch barrel.

wich one do you guys prefer and why?

I picked up a 336 as a Christmas present to myself and I love it. It is a nice shooting rifle, quick to bring on target.

The stainless is a sweet looking rifle, I considered it but decided to save a couple of bucks and get the "regular".

336 ss with a relatively low power scope. Side eject & ss makes the diff IMHO....

Should have added pistol grip on Marlin, but thats subjective....

No contest. (disregard the 39A)

The Marlins are well tested and have a long history of quality work. Something like 8 pieces to take apart. They are also designed to allow the bolt to be removed to clean thru the chamber. They are old man, cant go wrong with that.
