Hi, my dad has a marlin 30as, had it for about 20-25 years and maybe 40 rounds have been put through it. We are just wondering if we can make the action just a bit smoother, i seen videos and stuff with people with there 336's (same rifle I think?) and they can open and close the action like its nothing. Please help.

AFAIK the model 336 is the same as the 30AS, just with pretty furniture. As for smoothening the action you could just shuck-shuck the lever with the gun empty...might loosen it up. My 30As is over 20 years old with about 300 rounds(or less) through it and still tight. I don't see the problem with that myself.:)

Ok so its prettymuch just a wear and tear type thing. Like I know on the out stroke (ejecting stroke or whatever you wanna call it) its pretty smooth. But when your bringing it in on that last little bit where it sets the trigger and stuff its somewhat stiff. But I guess this gives me an excuse to go to the range more. :)

Another question, what are the differences between the 30as and the 336?

Haven't fired it since the last time it was cleaned. Like I know its normal operation, its that last little bit when there are those little clicks, So I guess I wouldn't really call it stiff, its more of just mechanical friction. lol.
