I've had all sorts of hunting rifles but I always go back to my .3030 Marlin that my father in law gave me. I've always wanted a 32 and was lucky enough to find a1955 Marlin SC in 32 special in excellent shape. It was an uncles who bought it in the late 50s, shot it 5 times then put it away. I checked it over and it's a beauty! I tried to find what these are selling for but they don't seem to be up for sale very often. Anyone have an idea on the value on a gun like this? I will never sell it, I'm just curious :)
 
I have one that was made in 1952 (older than me). EDIT: Mine's an RC

I got it from the father-in-law of a friend. It came with a William's receiver sight, sling, case, and 140 rounds of ammo for $225. It didn't look like it had ever been completely stripped down and cleaned.....I pulled a lot of crud out of the hidden corners when I took it apart.

It's a "waffle-top" and has never been drilled and tapped for scope mount, and never will be.

When I got it, it was shooting about 14" high at 100 yds with the rear sight down as far as it could go. I put a taller front sight on it, and first trip to the range it put 3 rounds 2" high, and a nice tight 1" group.

It's one of my "never sell" rifles.
 
I've had a couple and the moose camp laddies scooped them up.
They were in the $350 price range.
Mind you, that was a few years ago.

One thing I can say about the Marlin 336's, they group very well.
Surprisingly well.
 
Agree about a keeper rifle. I have a 30as .3030 that is my go to but I think this 32 might give it a run for its money. I've had lots of rifles but I sure love my lever Marlins.
