Is the front one supposed to come off after unscrewing the screw? Mine is stuck and I put some oil on it but it still didn't budge. Any ideas?

Also, how do you put on a tube clamp barrel mount on the mag tube? Do you have to disassemble the mag tube to get enough space between it and the barrel to slide it on?

What other options are there for a forward sling mount?

The barrel band on the front stock is a bit of a press fit on the wood.
Use your fingers to rock it back and forth a bit, then walk it forward.
The tube clamp sling swivel goes on the mag tube not the barrel.

Once the screw is removed, it should be free to move.
It sounds like there might be a bit of corrosion there seizing things up.
Very thin oil, like diesel fuel, and time should loosen it.

The band is a pretty tight fit, so sliding it up to the muzzle isn't real easy
at the best of times. To break it loose, twisting the mag tube in relation
to the barrel should get it moving. You may want to remove the bottom
plate of the receiver to give you more slack to work with.

Best of luck.

The rear band on the wood is fine, but the forward band on the mag tube and barrel is stuck. Does that one move?

Be careful about scratching the barrel when you slide the forward band up the muzzle. It's easy to get grit under the band, so try to clean around it throughly before coaxing it forward. I've found gently squeezing the barrel and magazine together with the palm of one handle while pushing the band forward with the other hand often works. If you have a brass punch, you can also try gently tapping the band forward to break it loose --- if you get any smears of brass on the barrel, a little bore cleaner will remove them.

When putting the bands back into place, be mindful that it can be challenging to get the screws aligned properly between the band's holes. Be patient and don't muscle it or spin the screws too much trying to get them to bite --- the bands are so thin that the threads strip out easily.

I decided not to bother with the forward band as I've decided not to put a band sling mount on the mag tube. I'm just going to use some leather string and wrap the barrel/mag tube to make a loop for my sling to thread through.
