I've never heard of a one piece firing pin for a center fire Marlin, but then I've never looked. The two piece is what coined "Marlin's Safety", the rear short portion breaks away when the lever is opened dropping the locking bolt, so if the lever/locking bolt aren't in position firing pins aren't aligned and wont fire. I imagine a one piece would work and would probably even fire without the lever being fully closed, thus ending "Marlins Safety".

The proper replacements are available at Numrich Gun Parts for about $45us for both or $25us for the front one since you already have the rear and the flat spring and maybe WGP in Edmonton. I've always used the proper replacements, more so for "Bobs Safety"! The oldest Marlin I have is 1898 and and the 2-piece safety apparently is still working on today's firearms too.

I have only used the factory style firing pin.

The split firing pin prevents it from firing out of battery before the lever is closed. It can fire out of battery with the single piece style installed.

I’ve never heard of anyone actually pulling the trigger before they’ve closed the lever though.
