Looking for info on a rear stock for a marlin 336 in 30-30. Iam in need of a stock for my buddy and am wondering what will work his is and older model with flat top receiver I know there are different fore stocks but wondering if all years and series rear stocks will fit. Checked on Boyd’s gunstocks and they only list a 336 straight grip or pistol grip. Checked gun parts corp and they have parts list for numerous different models of 336. Any help much appreciated

Pretty sure all 336 butt stocks are interchangeable. 50's rifles had the fat forends but I've fitted later slender forearms and vice versa without much trouble( had to enlarge hole in forearm for band screw). Taking carbines here, rifles are obviously different.

I thought they were all the same. You'd need to get a new lever if you went to straight grip, but that's it.

Even if there were very slight changes in the wood profile, the only part that matters is where the wood mates up to the receiver. That part of the receiver hasn't changed as far as I know.

Try Marlin Owners forum just to be sure though I guess.

Good luck - hoe you find what you need.

There is one here if you’re not a knuckle dragger.
12” length of pull, maybe a tad longer.
Put on a thick butt pad.
Add a slip on for a bit of extra length.
