Marlin 336ER .356 Win

Arch, I'm sure there is room for improvement on those handloads. I would have spent more time fine tuning but I know David too well. He has a history of selling rifles before he shoots them. I guess his thrill is in the acquiring not the owning or using. He did carry it on a moose hunt till we started seeing grizzly sign, then I loaned him my 338 and I carried my 35 Whelen. I hope you enjoy it. I put a New England peep sight on my 94 big bore in 356 and can not wait to carry it on a late season moose and mule deer hunt next November.
Happy hunting, Marshall

About 35's getting the job done.... A couple of years ago, I was on a moose hunt, with my 35 whelen, and a guy that I ran into up there had just shot and wounded a moose with his 300 win mag, hit it in the back leg. It was running across bogs and beaver ponds and when it was 400 yards off, I lay prone and aimed in front of it's hump as it turned broadside. My partner, and previous owner of ARCH's new 336, still talks about the "thwack" of the 225 grain TBBC bullet that dropped it in its tracks. That 400 yards was confirmed by the 1200' rope that just about reached it to drag it to where we could get a truck. A 35 got that job done.
