Marlin 336RC, just bought one

Just bought a used Marlin 336rc in 30-30. Looking to age the gun. The serial number starts with J1###. Apparantly J is supposed to give the year it was made. It is in decent shape. I have wanted one for years. Also looking to see what they would be worth? Any feedback would be appreciated.

1952. Should be a "waffletop" showing little squiggly serrations on top of the receiver which hopefully has not been bubba'd by drilling. Worth ?? $450 or 500 for a nice original, maybe a bit more but not much. They made lots of 30-30's, less .35's and even fewer .32's so factor that into the price spectrum.
