Marlin 338 Express

A friend has one. Pretty nice gun for a lever fan. Ballistics are nothing to sneeze at.
Factory ammo and brass were difficult to get for some time but we were able to get thru
that. I've seen factory ammo in some stores the last year or so but as far as I know
Hornady bullets for a lever are hard to find here. He has not shot anything with it yet.

Anyone have one? They look like an interesting lever gun. Of course I need another rifle.

I have a 338 mx pre- remington 92 serial number just a gem ,the rifle is flawless it shoots incredibly accurate .

I had 5 of them all earlier ones had issues and they had 91 serial number , it is a great gun ,the ftx bullets are accurate and fly nice but are too fragile for me anyway

I had it brought up from the USA it cost much for import fees IRONICALLY ,,,,An American chap is willing to offer big bucks to sell it to him along with ammo dies etc ,he said it is an easy thing to do to import into the USA bullets and all

I had no trouble finding the 160gr FTX for my 308MX. P&D had them for me in a day.

The 91 prefix guns are newer than the 92 prefix guns. The 92 guns like mine were made in 2008, while the 91s were made in 2009.

Too bad they cancelled it. I will have to find another rifle to want.

They kept the 308mx which seems to selling alot better and the ammo
( Hornady and Remington ) seems to be instock in more places. I know I'm thinking about adding the 308mx to my collection. I already own a 444XLR and 336BL (Both made well prior to the plant shut down in CT).

I managed to find a .338 MX here recently and it should be here any day now. As for ammo, Cabela's had a lot in stock the last time I was there. Hopefully there are a couple of boxes left. This one will complete my collection. The .308 express is fantastic. I hoping the .338 will be just as great, if not better!
