Went out to have a few shots with the Marlin after putting a new scope on..

I have to say that I am quite pleased at 100 yards...

These were shots from a sitting position using bulk winchester whitebox hp ammo

I know what the 39 can do, my buddies dad has one and I've put a round or two through her. Actually, my friend has pretty much inherited it, but I don't think his wife is going to let him play with his guns much longer. If he ever decides to sell, that is the one rifle I don't want to let out of the 'family'. They really are a thing of beauty, aren't they?

Nice shooting and I'm jealous of your Mountie! I had one for a short while but sold it and am now making do with a cut-down 39a. The cut down one is a shooter, though, and it's an immensely fun with the iron sights. I can only imagine what it would be like with a scope.

Well, you learn something every day. I thought the Mountie was a 39M, but see the 39A was a Golden Mountie too. Interesting.

Nice rifle btw. I'm still kicking myself for not picking up a 39A in the last gun purge (C68) back in 95. Saw a really nice one at Phoenix that someone was selling at that time for peanuts, less than $150 IIRC.

less than $150 is a steal..

mine is the straight stock takeedown 39A Golden Mountie,... made in the 50's..

I have been offered some decent cash for it, more than a new one would go for,.. but it has too much sentimental value..

I've have inherited about 28 shotguns and rifles with about 18 of them being pretty nice,..this is one of the nice ones.

My first 39a was a 24" Golden bought in 1958 from SIR and I think it was less that $100.00. I traded it over 20 years ago but now have a Mountie. 0.95" and 50 metres for 10 rounds with CCI MiniMags is pretty good. My grandson at 8 years said, "I like racking this little sucker". Me thinks it will be his . . . someday.
