I'm thinking I need to get bent......a bent-loop lever that is!

Anyone have one of these? How do you like the break-down feature and what do you have to say about Microgroove rifleing?

I have had one for about 30 years. It still gets used occasionally and I will eventually pass it down to my kids .

The break-down is great for cleaning but I usually don't transport it broken down. It is easy to break down but I would just rather leave it assembled. It would be fine if you have a hard case to transport it when broken down.

Accuracy is ok, it likes some brands of bullets better than others. Never had a problem with feeding or ejecting. The trigger is heavy and not smooth and so tends to have an affect on accuracy.

I have had a scope on it but now use a Williams peep sight. I had this sight on it when I first got it, used it for years like that, then "upgraded" to a scope and eventually went back to the peep sight. The peep sight is very fast to aquire targets and I find it more fun as a plinking and varmit gun.

Levers give you a feeling that is different from a bolt or semi. Faster than a bolt but you tend to think about your shots more than when using a semi.

Marlin 39A is about as good as it gets for levers,if you are going to transport it broken down be carefull!! As you know the bolt just slides out very easily and the firing pin can fall out,and the extracter is just a flat spring with a curled head that can fall out also!!

I have two a round barrel model(1948) and an otagon barrel (1946)I like them much!!!

I also collect Win model 1890's have two and they carry much better!!

But you can't go wrong with the Marlin 39!!!!

my 39A is extremely accurate and easy to maintain, it loves win power points

How does the microgroove barrel handle fowling?

The microgrove barrel is just that, more than one continuious grove,it does well with any round(except the colbra primer rounds as they get slowed down so much they could squib) A bore snake is about the best you can use on any .220 bore!

It has little brass wire cleaners on the front side and you can put cotten swabs on the tail with oil to clean up on the back side!

If it has a clean bore don't use a tornado or such stainless bore cleaner on it!!

The double grove on the barrell (microgrove)is what makes it so accurate!

I have some model 1890 win in .22WRF that will give it some competition, but never best it!

My Marlins 39A are about as good as it gets!!!!
