Marlin 39D

I just picked up a Marlin 39D. What's the story on these? I've read that they were only built for three years and the grip was slightly different. Is there anything else unique about them?

Looks like a nice find.
From what I gather, the 39D is a 39 Mountie, with a pistol grip stock.

Thanks for sharing, now I’ve seen them all. I have a 39M with the straight grip like my 1894, I bet yours is a handy little rifle too!

From what I see from your pic yours doesn’t have the fold down sight.
My 39m was $450 on here a year ago!

Similar to 39M, with light barrel,3/4 tube mag. 9695mfg.
Dont know about 71-73, but the twenty-sixth Ed. on page 1031 from 60% @ $100.00 to 100% @ $350 US $$
And I didnt even have to stay at a Holiday Inn Express to come up with this, but it does look purrrrdy though.
