Marlin 410

Can I get some pros/cons of using a Marlin 410 Lever action shotgun with slugs for hunting vs a Marlin 336 30-30.

Yes the 410 slug will be 2 1/2 inch,forty cal or so good at about 50 yards or such! The 30/30 even with a 150 grain bullet will give you about 100-150 yards!

Not even close to the same thing, but if you want a bunny gun that will take out coyotes with slugs or just the feel of a lever for small game go for it. I have a 410 and would now use it as a 25 yard deer gun if needed but not as a rule.

I have a Marlin 410 and love it. If you are hunting close ranges, ( such as from a tree-stand you would normally bowhunt from) it will be just as effective as a 30-30. You can't expect to get range from a 410 slug. I bought mine as a companion to my 444. Someday when my boys are older i will put a scope on it and use it for deer, the boys can use my bigger shotguns.

In Manitoba, minimum 20 gauge for slugs on big game.

No mention of any restrictions for non-big game hunting.
