Is there any way to covert a 444 marlin to 44 mag by just setting the barrel back and the mag tube and fore end .My reason is the 1 in 20 barrel twist and the Ballard rifling feeding is another issue what do ya think couldn't find anything on the web so I think I might be dreaming .

Try to get a look at the 336 in .44 magnum. Looks (IIRC) to be a lot of mods to get it to feed the short cartridge. The .444 is making a comeback. Yours may sell for what a good 1894 is worth.

I have never seen a 336 in 44mag and im not a fan of the 1-38 twist I no they shoot well thought it would be a easy convert just wondered if anyone had seen one .Nice to shoot 300 gr plus led bullets at stuff thanks guys

Changing a 444 into a 44 Mag. The 444 is noticeable heavier than my 44mag. I'm not sure if the 444 action would cycle a 44Mag/44Spl without jamming.
For the amount a Gunsmith would charge to do the work, it would be cheaper to buy a 1894.

I have both.
Marlin 1895 444Marlin (July 2019 Production) c/w Vortex Diamondback 2-7*35 BDC

It is likely that there would be major feed issues because of the difference in cartridge length. The receiver on a .444 is much longer, as is the bolt, and the elevator. Better of to find a Marlin 94 in .44 mag. I have 3, one too many.

The 444 lifter is too long for 44 mag.

Before Marlin re tooled to build the m.1894 again, they manufactured the m336 in .44Mag for a couple years.

So there is precident to use the .444/336 action...but the reason they built the m1894 again was due to feeding issues from what i understand.
