I wanted to pass this little tidbit of advice along to anyone not familiar with reassembling the recoil spring (with guide pin in the centre) back into the receiver.
The first time I attempted to do this, I bent the spring while compressing it into the back of the bolt. This happened as I compressed in a horizontal direction (muzzle pointed horizontal). I purchased a new spring and learned that the easier way is this:
Rotate the rifle so that the muzzle points upward, set the spring and pin into the divet at the back of the receiver and slowly compress the bolt DOWNWARD. This makes for a straighter path and less consternation.
Hope it makes sense (and helps)!
