Short, light and maneuverable. It feels very different from a 10-22. The trigger guard and trigger are made of plastic. That doesn't bother me in the least though. I like the last shot bolt hold open and I like the bolt release by the trigger guard. I think I heard or read somewhere that if you take the mag out it will not fire even with a round in the chamber. The rings that come with it I would consider to be junk. I'm looking forward to next years new crop of gophers. What was your initial impression of the rifle?
Winchester Model 70 XTR Featherweight 30-06. The rings I have on the 7000 are some Hawke medium mounts. I haven't heard of any aftermarket stuff for it yet, but a guy on Rimfire cantral is going to start making some stocks. Here's a pic he sent me of the different style and the info he provided.what is the gun near ur 7000?
The thumbhole(Second from the right in the pic below) below is scheduled for production this month for the Marlin M7000.I am a long time Marlin users and I feel the m7000s have been ignored for too long.
The rest of the patterns below will be inlet for the m7000 as orders come in.
The website won't be up until this week,so I have to feild questions on the specs one at a time(no problem)
The Ultra classic(same basic stock as the Marksman on the thread without the beavetail forend) is the cheapest- It is $140 in any standard grade solid wood(Walnut, maple etc).
The Ultra Marksman(the stock on the thread wtih beavertail) is $175.It is available in Brown or Gray laminate or plain wood standard.Any other colors of lams or fancy wood are extra.
The "Cobra" Thumbhole and the "Annie" rollover monte carlo are $185 Same woods as above.
The prices do not include shipping, or pads and swivels.
Even though my stocks are a bit more than other makers like Richard's or Wenigs, etc they require MUCH less work to fit and finish.
For my money, the Classic would make a dandy all around stock for a m7000 @ $140 US.
