Marlin 717M2

[GMC403]

Anyone have any experience with this gun? (Semi auto Mach 2). Seems It was short lived.

I've been hanging on to one for a while, but have never taken it out.

They were supposed to be very accurate. There were some issues with I believe split cases. The solution if I am not mistaken was to be sure the chamber was very clean. I shoulda picked one up when I had the chance.

The issues were a little more serious than "split cases." There were numerous out of battery explosions that included shrapnel distributed over the surrounding countryside... at one point Marlin was replacing the guns with identical non-M2 weapons... they just couldn't tame the hard cycling nature of the M2 round... having said that I know of two guys that still shoot them... they keep them very clean (a necessity)... but they both still wince when the squeeze the trigger.

Interesting, so reduced to collector status?

I've never shot a magnum semi auto, and it looks different than the standard 795 action.
