you cna get the 925, that is the wood model blued with facotry sights brand new for $229 at WSS. i think that would be the way to go.

The old Marlin's are nice guns but may need some trigger work to get the best out of them. Instructions on fixing the trigger are available on Rimfire Central.

I do not think that I would pay more than $200 for a 782 as new Marlins are about that price and come with an improved trigger and microgoove rifling.

I bought a Mossberg 640 in good conditon off of a Gunutz add and it came with a decent scope, mounts and a sling for about $225

I have a Marlin 782 in 22WMR. Nice gun, and I have no issues with it.

$300 for one in VG condition seems much too high though. It should be less then $200.
