my marlin 795 is one of the nicest, most accurate little .22's that I own-except for the trigger.I've done a bit of work on it and improved it a bit[c/o of JB weld]
question-are the new marlins any better?

For what it's worth, you should keep an eye on that JB weld. Don't get me wrong, I love the stuff. It's pretty handy and I use it everywhere I can, but I would never use it to build up a contact wear surface. Eventually it will likely break off that trigger and end up lodged in the action somewhere in pieces. It's a bit of a hack shortcut to achieve the results of the proper grub screw technique. I'm not saying it won't hold, it might. I have read about other people doing it, but who knows how long theirs will hold.

I just often wonder why so many "fixes" are done with JB weld/duct tape/bailing wire etc...

And as far as I know the new marlins are the exact same.

agreed-I actually did it to see if it would work before I began drilling and tapping a hole for a screw to reduce the creep. Now that I know it does help a bit-I can go back, grind off the J B Weld and do the job properly.Too bad R&D at marlin don't make a decent trigger-it can't cost that much more, and it would make a good gun better, the trigger is my only complaint

I don't mind the trigger on my Marlin 60, really,

But then, I'm used to the awful trigger on the Mosin-Nagant. Everything after that is smooth as butter. :p

I am thinking about doing a trigger job on the Marlin though, just so I can make the 10/22 owners cry just that little bit harder. THIS is a pretty detailed method of doing it properly.
