Hey there,
Quick 2 part question,

New Marlin 60 tube fed rifle, 2 bricks through it so far, tried feds, cci, winch, and it fails to eject occasionally(once every 20 shots), it just doesn't have enough gas sometimes to kick the empty shell out OR I end up with 2 grooves on the new incoming fed round yet it doesn't chamber it...seems like if fails to catch/grab it.

After cycling the action it fires fine. Now to my question, According to the manual it says not to use high/hyper velocity rounds. I think these may give it that extra punch to pop the round out.

Would anybody reccommend giving this a try or will it be detremental to the life of my barrel?

THANKS

Is it cold where you're shooting?

I had a similar problem this winter with my 795. It was about -15, and I think I had too much oil for the cold, so it would not eject properly.

cold

Yes actually it was very cold, I could only shoot a few tubes before I'd have to go to my truck to feel my fingers again.

I don't believe it is a cleaning issue but could be, I've wiped/swabbed it with solvent then a touch of oil (hoppes#9) about 3 times now (about every 400 rounds).

THanks for the input, anymore suggestions/guesses welcome....will stay away from the stingers and other hyper rounds for now (exactly what i was wanting to try lol).

Your "new" Marlin 60 may simply need a drop or two of gun oil on the moving parts to ensure the action is sliding back and forth easily.
They are simply to strip so when you're in there pay attention to the extractors, make sure there is no carbon around that area.
I bought one new a few years ago, and have found this rifle totally reliable provided it is correctly cleaned/oiled.

FYI: Hoppes#9 is not gun oil!

I would not recommend to use of so-called Hyper velocity ammunition as the bolt slams back too hard and may cause damage.

Let us know if you figure it out :) I haven't taken mine out in the warm weather yet, I'm curious to see if that's what did it.

marlin

Just wanted to let everybody know that since the weather has been above freezing I have taken my Marlin out about 10 times and it hasn't had a single ejection/cycling problem.

It eats everything I put into it, (never tried hyper as per manual). I believe it was the freezing weather for some reason, It was brand new so was really happy when it all of a sudden started working flawlessly in warmer weather.

Thanks for the input guys, it was much appreciated.

If you DO want to go out and freeze your butt off shooting your 60, get some Eezox lube. It is slick and thin down to anything I have ever been out in (-30)

Great stuff .. drys as an invisible film that stays slick for quite sometime.

:)

Rain, snow, ice, freezing cold, very hot, never ever problem with 795, prolly now 5000 rounds now, the onlyl thing it's stops holding the last shot holds open when it's sub zeros temperatures...
Using hi and hyper, no problemos...
