Just wondering if anyone had any experience with Marlin 795 clips. Ive seen only the 10 clip in person.

I have heard some negative reviews of the 25 clip promag, but i have also heard decent reviews. Opinions?

I have several Promag 25rnders for my newish 795. I found Winchester Xpert HP work 100%. The other ammo I have and use, CCI minimag HP and Standard Velocity lead, WW HV Solid, Dynapoints and Federal 550 HP all jam a few times every mag. Nothing jams in the standard 10 rnders.

I won't argue over preferred nomenclature. I will suggest before you correct the end-user, fix the supplier...

If Marlin made it, and call it a clip, it's a clip(as you can see they have recently started calling it a clip magazine). Same holds true for many manufacturers. The "C" in a Remington 10C is for clip, as with Parkerhale 1200C (where "C" is for clip). If Wikipedia made it, they could call it whatever they want.

It's not like we don't know what OP meant with the term. Calling an ejector an extractor is plain wrong, and will lead to frowns when parts are ordered. Calling a magazine "clip" when it's manufacturer does is anything but wrong. Funny thing language...I called all snowmobiles "ski-doos" for years(regardless of manufacturer), and I know folks that call all tissues "Kleenex".

Whatever happened to the drum mags that were supposed to be coming available for the 795? I recall reading about them some time ago but haven't seen one around. Anyone get one?

I picked up a couple of Champion 25rd mags from Reliable but haven't fired any rounds through them yet. I got them to try out in my new JW-14. They fit nice and tight, I just hope they feed well.

A detachable box magazine can correctly be called a clip. Those who rigidly insist otherwise and condescendingly "correct" people who say clip need to get a life. The dictionary, various manufacturers, heck I have even seen examples from the US military using the word clip; are they all wrong?

So tempted to pick up a few of these Promags, I've been jealous of my buddies with 10/22's for a while... Just not sure how they're gonna work with Federal Champion...

I did purchase the small drum mag for the 795 some time ago, from Hical. I shot about 6 full mag loads, and it seemed to work very well, other than the last shot bolt open feature does not work. I believe it was over a year ago, or so that I purchased the mag.

Got some from Hical. Great service, fast delivery and lots of products. I picked them up for my Marlin 70. My buddy got some for his Marlin 795. All in all they don't work. Neither of us has yet to get through a full mag without a jam. Most times they jam at least every 2nd or 3rd round. I don't blame Hical. They don't make this product they just sell it. I don't even bring the promags to the range anymore. The mag for my marauder kit on my 10/22 is worse. Overall, after these experiences I am done with promag.
