I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the aftermarket 25 round magazines for the marlin 795 (e.g., like the ones that promag makes). I want a magazine that won't break after a few hundred rounds are put through it. Would anyone make any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

I bought 3 ProMags last winter, (HiCal had a sale on them when you bought 3). Tested them out first in my Papoose (video below) and then in my 795. They were boringly reliable, with the exception of not actuating the last round bolt hold open.

They went into regular rotation working over the gopher patch last spring (along with my 795), and I ended up by a couple more when I spotted them at Bass Pro on sale (5 total now).

Used them heavily all summer, never once had a problem with them.

The promag I got is not reliable in my 795. Won't feed worth a crap. I haven't messed with it yet, but it doesn't seem to seat consistently.

My buddy got 2 for his 795 and I got 2 for my 70. At first mine were terribly unreliable and my friends were reliable. Lately mine started working (break in?) and my friends starting choking.

Hmmm, these are very mixed reviews just as I have found on other company websites (very polarized even as they either seem to function with little to no error or they render the gun useless). I wonder what kind of factors influence the reliability of the magazines (i.e., weather, temperature, storing conditions, etc.). Given the nature of the reviews, I'll probably stick to buying 10-round magazines. Anyways, thank you for the help by sharing your experiences.

I bought a promag when they were new on the market.
It wouldn't feed in my 795 no matter what.

My friend had one and had no problems whit it in his gun.

Chances for it to work in your 795 is probably 50/50 :shotgun:

I bought one, and wish I never, cheap plastic, 80% reliable, LSB hold open no go.....The 795 rocks, just use the ten rd. mags...
