Hi,
It seems that SAIL no longer carries the Marlin 795. I'm glad I got one around the New Year when they had them on sale for about $170. SAIL still has the model 60 though, at $240.
And now I see them at Cabela's for $280! That's $50-$60 more than I remember them being during the winter.
I had been thinking about picking up another 795, but then I saw a Marlin 989 M2 on the EE, looks to be in great shape and even has the original rear sight. If SAIL still had the 795's at $170 I probably would not have bought the 989. I should be thankful about the price increases then?
I'm really happy to have both rifles
(well, both when the 989 arrives). The one I had many years ago was so light and was really accurate - I can't wait until the range re-opens.
BTW, even in the $230 to $280 price range, I'd still say the 795 or the 60 is a good buy - although it kind of makes me cringe that price is so much higher now than just a few months ago.
Cheers,
Neil
