Looking to buy one of these cheap 22's but am a little concerned with the comments I've seen other places regarding the heavy trigger. I'm sure some people here have one so please let me know if you have any problems with the trigger pull at all.

Thanks

I have one-love everything about it -except the trigger.I restocked mine with a Boyds Thumbhole laminated stock-its very accurate and no problems cycling. But the trigger!I just don't know why they can't put a decent trigger on it-I've fired a 30 year old marlin with a WAY better trigger.I think they held a contest to see who could come up with the heaviest trigger and went with that.

There is a little play in the trigger before it engages the sear, and then quite a hefty pull before it releases the hammer. Unless youre using the rifle for competition, its nothing a little finger cant handle. i shoot my 795 almost every day on the farm. more annoyed with reloading the mags then the trigger. awesome gun btw

I had one. Great accuracy out of the micro-groove barrel and reliable action but I just couldn't get past the trigger.

I tried a number of the improvements posted at RFC on mine but it was still heavy enough to leave indents in my trigger finger from the trigger grips due to the heavy pull.

If you can get one cheap, and get lucky on the pull, they're great. Otherwise the trigger pull weight will drive you nuts.

If you enjoy tinkering, search Youtube for "Marlin 795 trigger" (or Marlin 60). There are a couple of fellas who have done some excellent vids on making the trigger much, much better. Worth the effort & the rifle into one that you'll enjoy much more.

I have one and haven't noticed any trigger issues at all. I really like it. I wish spare 10 round and larger mags were more readily available, that's it.

I finally got around to getting one of these after having difficulties finding a 10/22. I can now confirm that the trigger is pretty heavy :( . Also having problems finding extra 10 round mags

The MCARBO spring kit sounds pretty cool but I cant see myself spending $40 for 4 springs. The gun itself is only worth a few times that. I found a nice video on youtube that has helped mine quite a bit just by following two of the steps.

1) floppy disk spring for trigger return
2) cut little over 1 link off the hammer spring

Just those 2 steps took off at least a pound. He got his to 2.5 lbs from 5lbs but I am not experienced enough to do all the steps.

Heres the vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QQc1DVe8L8&feature=bf_prev&list=SPEEE60871555F51D1

I dont recommend anyone do this but if you do I'm in no way responsible for any problems that may occur .

I put a Mcarbo spring kit in my 795. Well worth the 40 bucks. Sweetened up the trigger nicely.

Oh man... i nearly spit out my coffee. $40?... wow.

Here is another excellent video on tuning, this is the first of a 4 part series on youtube. The "dude" is hillarious, and it's the best technical guide i have watched on these guns yet.

i own one and find it not so bad
its not a bolt action precision after all but out to 100 yards out of the box its a pleasure
My only change i want to do to it is the stock way too thin at the fore end
looking for a Ati replacement or a wood stock maybe boyds
