Which is the better rifle if after-market parts were not a consideration?

I have a 10/22 but after shooting my Mum's 795 I feel the light weight of the 795 makes it a more versatile little rifle especially for hunting and training children and newbies to shoot.

What thinks you?

I think the ruger's magazine really is a lot better then the common straight metal ones.
The 795 does come with the last shot bolt-hold-open thing though. And Sling studs.
If I didn't have a cooey 64b already, I'd buy a 795 and use it to loan to friends while I use my 10/22

I haven't actually used a 795, they just seem like a great bargain. And I haven't heard of any factory flaws... yet.

I had a 10/22 and sold it to get a cz. However after a while decided I wanted another semi .22 and shot my buddies marlin 7000 and was very impressed however I couldn't find one so went with the 795. I haven't shot it much maybe 500 rounds but I must say so far it's way more accurate than my old stock 10/22 and it's so light that it's a dream to carry in the bush. Also as stated in another post it has the bolt hold open which is alot nicer for children and newbs (no dry firing). As for the mags for it I got the papoose mag and it looks alot better with it. Plus it's cheap enough that you can put a nice peice of glass on it. Anyway in my mind without caring about mods I'd go for the 795.
