I absolutely love mine now that's it's broken in. the 1st 300 rounds I had alot of jams and tried a dozen differnt brands of ammo until I found what it liked. Winchester 40gr at 1300FPS ran flawlessly out of it and after 300isch rounds of that to break it in (along with 300ish rounds of any type of ammo i could find to try) it now runs flawlessly on any ammo i put in it, even subsonic ammo.

As for the bolt release, how did it fail? Again mine runs perfectly now after thousands of rounds through it.

reply would not close spring was stuck

If you have the bolt back and push in on the charging handle the bolt will also lock open and the bolt release will not do anything. If you pull the handle outwards it will then work as normal. Perhaps it got pushed in by mistake?

the coop sports store in north battleford refunded my money. because they didn't have another one in stock. excellent service so if you are in north battleford stop by good selection

I am new to the world of guns and I picked one of these up as well for my first rifle. It has operated flawlessly, even on the cheap Winchester 333 ammo. Only problem I have is it shoots to the right of where I'm aiming. Is there any way to adjust this or is that a defect?

Use a piece of brass, like a toilet mounting bolt or something similar, and a finishing hammer to tap the rear sight to the left slightly in the dovetail mount. it's best to do this at the range because it could take a couple attempts to get it lined up.

Tap the rear sight over till you hit where you aim.

Mine shot dead center from the factory with irons. but I scoped it so if drifting the rear sight doesn't help you that's always an alternative.

Thanks for the quick help guys! I plan on going out to some gravel pits during the week to get some shooting in so I will definitely try that once I get there. Also thanks for the scope advice. I don't think I will be putting a scope on it however because I plan on picking up a Mossberg Night Train 3 and a S&W M&P9 in July, I don't think I'll be scoping it. The way I see it, why bother with scoping my 22 if I can get the irons straight and I have a scoped .308 haha

Also, does anybody make aftermarket mags for this with a bigger capacity than 10 rounds? Almost wish I got the 10/22 so I'd have its aftermarket support.

There is a 25 round magazine made by Shooter's Ridge. Even if you can find one, from everything I've read its pretty terrible. Stick with the Marlin 10 round magazines, they're quite nice.

Largely, I like my 795. First 500 rounds or so ran flawlessly. Recently ive had a couple issues with the bolt gouging the next round in the magazine as it goes forward, and sometimes the trigger isn't resetting. I'm sure I'll figure it out soon though.

the only complaint I have is that AWFUL trigger.I think they held a contest to see who could come up with the worst one and went with the winner[my 30 year old marlin is infinitely better-light and crisp].Other than that, its an excellent rifle, accurate and reliable.I put a Boyds thumbhole stock on mine-but I kept the plastic stock for when I go grouse hunting.I filled the hollow stock with non expanding foam-adds no weight but makes it much more ''solid'' feeling

i love mine hate the stock though working on finding something more substantial
the occasional ftf or the bolt catches the shell as it ejects
but nothing happening regular enough to annoy me

You can try stoning and polishing the sear engagment very carefully for a better trigger pull. You can also try a Mcarbo spring kit. I don't have a 795 but it works on Marlin model 60s. Good reviews on the spring kit at RimfireCentral.com. There is also a good tutorial for tearing down your trigger assembly. I love my Marlins almost as much as my old Mossbergs. Good shooting.
