Many years ago, I purchased a .22lr Marlin Ballard Rifle from an estate sale. The rear tang sight is missing, however a replacement can be obtained. Wood is in good condition and the bore is pristine. No rust with the rifling still sharp. Barrel is 30 inches long.

Does anyone know the value of this antique??

Not without a lot of clear, detailed, pictures.

Both sides, close ups of the action, stock, barrel, sights, etc.

Oh. Markings. Any markings, as well as their locations. Patent dates, company names and addresses, gunsmiths stamps, etc.

Cheers

Is this a single shot targert rifle or a model 39 or 39A?
I would be interested in it . Will be away for a few days thou.

It has no markings other than "MARLIN FIREARMS CO.
NEW HAVEN CT. USA. BALLARD'S PATENT NOV.5, 1861. No gunsmith stamps. Serial no.35313
Single shot, .22 lr. possible target version. 30 inch barrel, partly octagonal and partly round. I have pictures but I do not know how to post. Could email them.

The link is to a tutorial on picture posting. Good stuff to know, for here and other forums you may wish to post pictures on.

Photobucket is easy to use, and free.

Sounds like a Ballard Single shot Lever Action falling block rifle.

Devils in the details, and I'm not really well schooled on them. Stuff like forged and cast receivers, I can tell you how to check, but values, not so much.

Fire some pictures up, possibly better over on the Antiques and Black Powder sub-forum, where there are a couple guys with some more experience with this sort of rifle than I have.
