Thoughts on the Marlin Dark Series? I’m looking at buying one in .357. Just trying to get one in my revolver caliber in case you know what happens. Reviews on line look ok. I’ve owned a couple Marlins 30ish years ago and they were great. Thanks and stay safe

Have one on the way in 357 as well. Seems like an amazing caliber for a lever. Ive heard the negative reviews but not so much about the recent ones so I'm hoping things are getting better. I'll start a thread when i get it for any questions or pics people want

I have the 336 Dark in 30/30 and have been a big fan. Slick action, lots of value for the money. Just don’t like the stock and hand guard, though I am planning to swap it with a mlok version. The threaded barrel is a nice addition as well. It has the rail and sights from the GBL which is also a really nice additional.

I almost bought one but the prices were to stupidly high. I ended up buying a new base model Marlin 1894C in .357 instead for 925 plus tax. It just arrived today. I figure I can add my own Skinner peepsight, and paracord sling if I want to and still come out 400$ richer. If I still had a job I would have splurged on the Dark model however. Maybe I will grab the model 30-30 instead when life gets back to normal. Its price is a little more reasonable.

Correct, it’s not a lam stock but from what I have read it’s not cheap crap that will swell but the opposite - apparently very weather / condition stable.

Will admit it was one of the reasons I went csbl instead of cst or dark, but after getting the csbl and seeing it’s quality / fit and finish, I would revisit getting a dark should I “need” another....

Take a look at the new henry big boy x model in 357 as well. They have a synthetic stock and a side loading gate.

Ordered one in 45-70. Don't know when it'll ship though. Out of stock everywhere. Even the Canadian distributor seems to have run out.

I plan on getting the MLOK handguard too.

I was wondering what was a realistic use for the threaded barrel. Are fake suppressors any good to stabilize the barrel and/or increase long range accuracy, or is it really just about the looks?

Just bought a new Marling CST in 357mag, probably built last year. I was scared buying due to very bad luck in the past with Remingtons and Marlins I inspected at the store. This one was absolutely perfect! and thats a lot coming from a OCD perfectionist lol. The sights were perfectly indexed, stock fit was very tight and no gaps, action is smooth and fitted well.

One issue I ran into was while loading, the lip on the mag tube was catching the rim of the second round and jamming. I removed the Mag tube and chamfered a 45' radius on the inside of the tube opening. Now it loads like butter :)

Just got a dark series. Stock is fit better than my 1951 marlin 336. Looks like theyve figured out the remlin

Before you buy one, take a look into what the stocks are made of. Hint....the same stuff as a Walmart coffee table. I'll pass thanks.

According to every review I have read (including people on here) the stock is made of hardwood painted with textured black paint. It is not composite.

Is the stock hardwood or compressed dust ?

Took my stock off a 1894 dark last night, looks like laminate
