Did they ever sort out their QC issues? I looked at an SBL a couple of years ago and it was... rough, to say the least.

I had a big long talk with Eric, the GM for Marlin. He said the QC issues were caused by worn out machines, tools and dies. Marlin has bought all brand new equipment to build these rifles on. That's why it took so long for them to come to market. These were actually released in 2015.

Yes. I have a GBL manufactured in 2015. Good fit and function. Clean machining nice blueing. Accurate as well, my father and n law, brother in law and I each took one shot with the rifle shooting Hornady Leverrevolution 325 grain at 50 yards and all three shots went in the same hole

Excuse my language but that's a load of crap. The poor quality of Marlins was due to the fact that when they changed locations, they didn't bother relocating their skilled personnel who had been making Marlins for years. They simply laid off their skilled gun makers. On top of that their machines were damaged during shipping.

I don't expect the old quality of Marlins to come back anytime soon, if ever.

I'm happy to see these finally coming into Canada they look pretty sweet and I have been looking at them for awhile. How is the buttpad on these ones ive been told the older ones were like hockey pucks

Oh yes that's right you work for Marlin...(sarcasm) LOL. That's what he told me, so don't shoot the messenger.

Mine is soft. Don’t worry about recoil of these rifles. People are always lamenting about it, if you have ever fired a .12 gauge you can handle this rifle with ease
