Since the Marlin Guide Gun is so popular, let's show off our toys and describe the mods you've done.

Wild West ghost ring sights, Happy trigger, one piece ejector, aluminum magazine follower and light mount. Williams Firesite with a cutaway hood, Streamlight TLR-1 LED light, Pachmayer Decellerator recoil pad, Browning X-cellerator sling, Kolpin cartridge holder and most importantly the $0.02 o-ring for the cross-bolt safety :D

Nice rig!!! I'm surprised you didn't change the lever though, to one that doesn't bite your hand when using heavy loads and that you can use with your gloves on.

has anyone a 350 hornady they have recovered from a animal, i would like to see what happens at 2150fps,there a lot of chat that thats not really a good big game bullet? i load 405 w.w. g,c, rcbs at 1500 i think that should do it, wade

I think I have seen that gun up at the Mission range. Did you have a pair of Ruger stainless Blackhawks in 45LC as well?

Nice rig. I will be joining the ranks soon as I just bought the stainless GG from cccan in the EE.:D:dancingbanana: I will post a pic when she arrives at her new home.

I just wrote a cheque out for $771.62 to Wholesale Sports. They have a rifle in my name and are just waiting for it to come from Edmonton. I should receive it in about a fortnight. I called yesterday and again today to confirm it and they do definately have one for me. Hence the cheque going out on the morrow.

I is a stainless steel model in 45-70. I don't think I'll do much to it. Perhaps just keep it stock. I will learn to reload. I can't wait to get it. One crazy thought I had was to use a metal polisher and give it a high polish like a mirror. I know that some people get the foregrip slimmed down. Any thoughts on this? Is the Marlin recoil pad adequate or are there more effective ones out there?

If I did get a scope which type is preferable?

have put 350FN's into 5 bears and 2 moose, best damn bullet there is for an "all rounder" for the .450 - 45-70

this one hit a moose quartering away @ 70yrds (lazered) , broke rib going in, took out lung and liver, broke shoulder blade, and was found in a big lump under offside hide. 4ft+ of wound channel. (shot another moose broadside @ 150yrds, pass through, animal dropped in tracks)

larger wound channel then a hardcast, and more then enough penitration for any and all NA Game.

Well no real "mods" as of yet, with the exception of a Williams WGRS rear peep. I pondedered getting the Williams FP again, but I wanted this one to be a little less bulky. Will probably throw a Limbsaver on in the next few days, does anybody know if the #10102 is the right one? I don't wanna hafta' print out all of the templates again..

Well I sold her, but here she is....my guiding companion for many years...

I just ordered one of these the other day from Simply Rugged in Alaska. Rob is a great guy to deal with and the prices are very reasonable. I have never bought anything from him I wasnt very happy with.
