Using a 1894 stainless steel, I've shot a lot of Win Whitebox out of a Marline 1894, and it works great. I've also shot a lot of S&B 240 gr SP, Remington 240 gr SP, and Win. 240 gr HP. But mostly I've shot my own reloads, all with Winchester brass. Typically 200 and 240 gr copper plated stuff (Frontier), using 2400 powder. The 1894 has not been a fussy gun at all, it shoots great. After using a file to shave down some of the roughness in the action (including the infamous 'Marlin Jam' issue), the gun works great. I have also shot 3 other 1894's owned by uncles, with the same results.
