I have a chance to buy a Marlin Model 27S in .25-20. I would say that it is in average condition, meaning mechanically sound, wood OK, bore OK, no bluing left. Any ideas what its worth?
I sold one to a buddy a while back for $200 but I'm sure that was on the cheap side. I think I paid $300 for it years ago. They are quite a nice rifle and mine shot cast bullets very well. Check the magazine for damage. The outside portion of the tube slides on these rather than the inside. On most of the guns I've seen at the shows, the tube is damaged at the receiver end where the follower 'stops' so that it can be pulled foward to load the magazine. Many have been welded already in the past. Just something you may want to look out for.
