marlin model 38, good .22 ?

i just bought 1 in nice shape, anybody collect these or is it just an oddity? Appears to be of a takedown variety.
 
I've never owned one but I'm jealous. I love old guns. These were made in the 1920's and I've heard they are good. The only caution that I would have is to only use standard velocity ammo in it. As far as collector value I have no idea. Maybe someone else knows more about that.
