After casually watching for a very long time I finally bit the bullet and purchased a model 39A (dates to 1967). I had never fired or even held one prior to this. Upon loading and firing for the first time I was more than pleasantly surprised at the solid "feel" of quality, unlike the newer plastic rimfires on the market. Something tells me the 10-22 will be gathering dust from now on, not that theres anything wrong with the Ruger 10-22, but I think I've found a new favorite.

Now to find a mountie....

I don’t have a Marlin 39a but I do know they’re awesome. Congrats - I’d love one. If you’re inclined to rehome your 10/22 you’ll have no trouble.

You have one of the finest lever actions made. I have had a 39a and two 39m's.
When testing one of the M's for 100 yards rimfire, I was able to show that testing ammunition made virtually every firearm capable of better accuracy.
