I think the rifle was made in 1986. As the title says the nylon buffer is cracked. The rifle works fine, I just wondered if this is anything to worry about? Is it common for these buffers to crack? Maybe I should try and source a new one for a spare?
TIA, Ken

If you're talking about that white, plastic piece that is pinned into the trigger group, then yes, it should be replaced. It keeps the bolt from causing stress to the other parts of the trigger mechanism, if I remember correctly. I think that was/is a common part in Marlin/Glenfield 60/70/995 series rimfires. I found a replacement buffer at: http://westrifle.com/wrstore/ Give them a call as the part(s) won't be advertised online. The best reference I found for the name of the part(s) was on the US Numrich website, in case that's not the piece you're talking about.

Yes, that's the piece, thanks for the link, I'll contact them. Nice to see that I can get it in Canada. I have a parts list for a model 60 and it calls the piece a buffer, P/N 407062, or maybe 407082 as the 6 or 8 is blurred and hard to dicipher.

Westrifle informs me that they don't have the piece. Guess I'll have to keep looking.

I have heard that both US and Canadian import/export regulations are such that it's a nightmare trying to get parts out of the US, is that true?

Anybody have a line on other sources in Canada for parts? BTW, FWIW I'm in Red Deer, Alberta.

Any luck yet? Sorry to hear they didn't have it in stock. I wonder if I took the last one a year ago :s

I had lots of trouble finding a teeny spring for an AR, so yeah, it appears the States' market isn't pushing things up here.

Edmonton.

Call Western Gun Parts. Weekdays.
Have you info sorted out, so you can call the part by it's correct name.

All my dealings there have been in person, over the front counter. Have heard mixed results dealing with the lady that works there, while the fellow is pretty aware of what fits what and where it is in the warehouse. Worth a call anyway.
I've heard mixed (mostly poorish) results dealing with them by email, too. Maybe out of date info.
Phone calls are cheap! :)

Cheers

This is off my Marlin Model 70. Is that the piece you are talking about?
