Just bought my first rifle (A Marlin Model 60 as the title says) and took it to the range and noticed that it was shooting kinda funny. All my shots seemed to be up and to the right of where I was aiming. I was using the iron sights that come with the rifle. Could just be my shooting:p, but my friend who is a pretty experienced shooter had the same issue, up and to the left. I am planning on mounting some tech sights to it, but Im curious if it is a problem with the pre-existing iron sights, or the rifle itself. I have heard that Marlins are awesome, and I think its a cool looking little rimfire, so I really want to figure out what the problem is. Any one had a similar issue?

Okay, well I might have to monkey around with it at the range a bit. Im assuming to adjust this you manipulate the end closest to the trigger?

Excellent, I just looked at one. I suppose if I put tech sights on it that shouldn't be an issue. Thanks for the help. Seems like a old school type of sight. Why wouldn't they put a sight on it that didn't require being beat with a hammer? :p

edit: oops you guys are way faster at posting than I am!

POI = point of impact.

Adjust the sights to point to where the bullets are actually hitting the target.

My 795 shot 3 inches high - all about the elevation on the rear sight.

The 60 and 795 are extremely accurate guns.

Best Regards, G

I have heard that the Model 60 and the 795 are both great guns. Are the sights easy to knock out of adjustment? Do you adjust them every time you hit the range?

You have to use a hammer to adjust them so once you get it good its good to go unless you bang on them again. I never shot my 60 with the iron sights just put a 2-7 scope on it. I also added a metal trigger guard and trigger to ditch that cheap plastic stuff. Adds a nice touch and the trigger feels a lot nicer.

okay cool! you've been really helpful. Makes sense now. Next time I'm at the range I will adjust it. the reason its so out of whack is because the previous owner had a scope on it which i decided to take off. I like Iron sights. And thats a good idea too. I will probably do something similar with the trigger guard. And I have been shooting mini-mags as well but have found they are a little harder to come by sometimes. You know anywhere you can get em bulk?

I've read very good reviews on these Tech Sights. Sounds like they are worth the $$ if you want decent irons.

Agreed> My friend has some on his 10/22 and they seem extremely accurate. If anyone sees some for sale let me know!

I also purchased a model 60 about a month ago. These rifles really seem to like the CCI "mini-mag" ammo. I've tried a bunch of different brands but the grouping with the mini-mags are really good.

I just got a marlin 60 again and it also likes minimags. Did not like anything else (3"+ @50y) but seems to also do really well with the 525 bulk blazer. Messy stuff but 800+ rounds down the pipe and no leading. Avg 3/4" at 50 now. Very happy with it.
