Good morning all,

I have a marlin model 81, it has the full size stock, longer feed tube, and original iron sights.

My issue is it tends to feed very poorly and im not sure if this is a common problem or something unique to my rifle. It shoots perfectly, I can hit shotshells at 100 yards consistantly and love the gun :sniper:

My father got this rifle when he was 14 and it was an old gun then and dident feed proper for him either.

any easy/quick fixs out there that people are willing to share?

Thanks!

Phil

I have 3 Model 81s and all operate fine. Most of the loading problem is the worn fingers that raise the cart to the barrel. a pic would help showing the loading mechanism. i will send a pic of mine if you send an email addy. I found that by manipulating the fingers, the loading improved on the first one i got.

~ Check that the Cartridge Guide Spring is in place and working. It's located just above the chamber, pinched between the barrel and receiver.

~ Pull the stock off and make sure all the visible screws on the underside of the receiver are tight.
