Looking at one of these yesterday. Seems like a pretty nifty and durable little rifle, may be the takedown .22 I've been looking for for years now, to take canoeing etc. Open sights are pretty good, weaver mount possible I believe. Does anyone have any experience with the Papoose, blued or stainless versions?

This photo is from Google, in Canada the rifle only comes with one magazine of course, but does have a carrying case they said.

Same store had zero .22 ammo, maybe a larger calibre would be more sensible these days.

I've never owned a Papoose, but have heard great things about them. I have 2 Model 795s that are the same gun, only non-takedown. They both run like tops.

22 ammo is out there, but it can take a little effort to find. If you need a 22 rifle you need a 22 rifle. It's only when you get up to centerfire/shotgun that ammo gets easier to find. HMR, 22mag, 22lr...all dicey, but keep calling around. The situation seems to be getting a little better.

Love it. More accurate than my 10/22 carbine. Holds zero between barrel removal. Reliable. Bolt hold open on last shot (doesn't work with the 25 round mags, but works fine with the factory mags).

All this fits in the bag. Hella day worth of shooting loaded and ready to go in one tight little package. The little yellow barrel is an empty "Toxic Waste" candy container, holds around 95-100 rds. With everything you see, I can actually fit 3 of those tubs in the case.

I bought one new a couple months ago. Great little .22. Watch for the sights being canted to the left on the barrel once its installed. If you're buying new check a couple of different ones first and pick the one that isn't canted. Even though I simple hold the rifle slightly canted to the right to get the perfect sight picture. No biggie. Runs flawlessly with all ammo and is very accurate for a semi. Get the 10 round mags for the Marlin 795. Same action.

I like the marlins but have had issues with the front sight hood snagging on branches and going missing. Personally not a fan of the plastic hi vis front sight insert either. If you like the factory set up, a little dab of silicone in both of the slots that the hood slides in will keep it around longer, otherwise, put the front sight from a blued 795 on it for about 20 bucks.

I have the stainless/synthetic combo in red pouch & has the same problem, going to install a removable 4x scope..
Never has jammed yet, bout 600 rnds through it.
